Our Story
Preston Woods Publishing Company started as an idea in 2001.That idea was to create a small, author friendly publishing company to focus on books of regional and historical interest.
And for the rest of that year the company stayed just that — an idea. In 2002, in conversations with Frank Steber, my old High School English teacher, I mentioned that if he wrote a book, Preston Woods would publish it. I didn’t give it too much thought at the time, but some months later I heard from Mr. Steber again. He had finished writing his book! Over the next several months, we worked together to transform his hand-written manuscript into the first book in the Preston Woods catalog: Seneca Sunrise; the Life and Times of Frederick Davis, Jr.
Since that time, Preston Woods has published multiple books from local authors.
As for why the name Preston Woods was chosen? Everyone has a time and place from their past that when remembered brings nostalgic memories. For me, that place was a wooded lot in the small town of Preston, NY. Preston Woods represents a remembrance of good things gone by and places that will live on in our hearts and in our thoughts.
